This Kind of Hero Chapter 62

After I Leave

In all his years, Xu Jun has never encountered such a bizarre situation.

No, it was better to say that in his many years of gaming and many years of using virtual reality technology, he had never encountered such a frightening situation.

He had played many games, amongst which were numerous horror and gore games. He could be considered quite experienced and knowledgeable in this area. He could endure serious injuries that others would scream out from. However, his current situation . . . in a split second, a darkness which blacked out the sky and earth had enveloped him. He had been sucked in–no, he could not tell if he had been sucked in or if he was absorbing the darkness. All he knew was that by the time he reacted, he was already in complete darkness.

Just a second before, with a Divine Spirit Elixir in hand, he had been preparing to save the Tree of Life.

A second later and he found himself here.

He never had this kind of experience before.

Ever since he confirmed that the final boss was the Demon King of Darkness or whatever, Xu Jun began building up his resistance to darkness. Of the accessories and runes on him, half of them were to counter the dark element. Furthermore, with the emblem Gale dad sent, the darkness before him should have been ineffective. Even when he had fought the Demon King, he had mainly suffered due to the other’s powerful, damaging magic and from the corrosion of the dark element. Although losing a bit of health every five minutes didn’t seem like a big deal, Xu Jun had no chance to heal himself in the midst of battle and eventually he would have died.

He had not realized that humans would be so frail in the midst of complete darkness. Without a single ray of light, both his body and spirit became weak and powerless. It was as if a hole had been opened in his heart and a steady stream of darkness invaded him from within and without. With a thump, Xu Jun sat down onto the ground.

However, he never fell down. He then realized that there was no ground beneath his feet, and that he wasn’t in the real world, but rather. . . the world of his consciousness? Is that what this was called?

He began to find it hard to breathe.

Someone had embraced him, their arms around his waist. This person was quite strong and they seemed to be slightly taller than him. This person was silent, yet their presence seemed to bring a sense of peace to Xu Jun or rather, their temperament was quite familiar.

“. . . Prince Ryan?” Xu Jun almost cried from shock. “Ahh, you’re still here!”

For the current him, Price Ryan was like a messiah! At least someone was here to accompany him and he wouldn’t have to face this kind of helpless predicament alone! Prince Ryan, you truly are an angel. From here on forth, I will never fantasize about the messy affairs between you and that Demon King Radiske ever again! “Ryan QAQ can you tell me what’s happening? Did you ever encounter something like this back when you were still alive?”

When Prince Ryan had still been alive, he had been a holy knight. Perhaps he would know of a way to escape the dark element’s entrapment.

However, a voice which clearly did not sound like Prince Ryan’s sounded out from behind him. The voice seemed synthesized; it was deep, graceful and magnetic. If any sound-loving girls had heard it, their ears would have likely become pregnant within minutes. Xu Jun’s heart, however, chilled–this voice belonged to the Demon King of Darkness.

This voice, which oozed of great gong1 god and voice actor daddy; this synthesized, electric timbre; this tone which the internet’s anti-fans had judged to be a middle-aged man’s voice. . . was something no one could forget after hearing it once!

By now, Xu Jun was in a total panic. “Y-y-you–who are you?!”

He began to  struggle, however his limbs were still weak and he almost fell to the ground. The person behind him solidly pressed up against him, and their breath seemed to pass over Xu Jun’s neck. A voice, numerous times better than a middle-aged uncle’s, exploded beside his ear. “My old enemy, you’ve already forgotten about me?”

“How heart-breaking.”

Fuck!

What the hell!

Haven’t you already died! This darling was the one who had buried your corpse!

–Wasn’t this supposed to be a role-playing, adventure game? Now you’re telling me this is actually a horror and suspense game? QAQ

Gale dad, you have harmed me!

Demon King Rozenke felt that the soul of the Brave in his hands was shaking. Truthfully, he was already quite pleased (?) that the other could still maintain their consciousness under a two-fronted attack by such concentrated darkness. He even had the misconception of: as expected of  someone this emperor has their eye on. If he had still been Prince Ryan, he would have been able to praise Xu Jun without any qualms. However, since he had decided to rip apart that false mask, he could no longer maintain his previous attitude.

“I never died. The Demon King can never die,” he said with a trace of pity in his voice. “Humans are unable to truly kill the Demon King. At my weakest moment, I entered your body and soul. I believe you will be able to guess what that means.”

“I am Prince Ryan.”

“My sincerest apologies.”

As he said the last sentence, his voice softened. At some point in time, he had given up the synthesized voice of an older man, but instead used Prince Ryan’s graceful, clear, neat, and youthful voice. As such, his apology seemed genuine, almost as if he were still Prince Ryan.

Xu Jun froze. His trembling intensified. He must be frightened, Rozenke thought. A human’s spirit was relatively frail as they put a lot of emphasis on their emotions, so even a small matter could hurt them. Originally, Rozenke had not understood this. As the Demon King who sat high above, he had been unperturbed even when he experienced his first ‘death’ forty thousand years ago. Perhaps that was because he clearly understood that he originated from darkness, and that as long as darkness existed, he could never truly die. Furthermore, his four most important subordinates were also the same.

It was quite laughable that only as Prince Ryan, was he able to truly grasp human emotions.

Xu Jun must be scared out of his mind. As he thought this, he felt a pain that spread from his arm into the depths of his soul.

Xu Jun had pricked him with something.

Xu Jun frantically tried to escape from the Demon King’s grasp. In his hands, he firmly gripped onto an emblem shaped item with a pointy edge. This item let off a weak, but steady glow. Rozenke silently looked at Xu Jun.

Within this darkness with only a thread of weak light, he calmly stared at Xu Jun.

“What are you trying to do? Brave.”

Xu Jun gulped and tried his best to make his voice sound less nervous, but it was still a bit dry. “I don’t believe you. You aren’t Prince Ryan.”

–Bastard, if you really were Prince Ryan then how did you endure Yours Truly talking crap about the Demon King? Aren’t you just messing with me?

You and Prince Ryan had a love-hate relationship (?) with each other and likely studied each other for many years, Xu Jun thought. To fake how the other speaks would be all too easy. He raised the emblem Gale dad had sent and adopted a defensive stance. “Tell me where you’ve hidden Prince Ryan, Demon King Ro. . . Ro. . . enke!”

In the end, he still couldn’t recall what this fellow’s name was. QAQ

Demon King Rozenke: “. . . Your Majesty, Demon King Rozenke. Let’s talk after you’ve recited it a hundred times. Brave, where has your intellect gone?”

Xu Jun gaped at him. “This familiar, guidance director like tone. . .”

Fuck, is he actually Prince Ryan?!

What the fuck?! The both of you were actually one person and not a couple?!

Rozenke shook his head. Countless times had he thought about how the two of them would end up after he left Xu Jun’s body. Xu Jun would definitely turn pale with fright and begin to question life. This cowardly fellow might even say something along the lines of being afraid of ghosts. Of course it was also possible that he would be like those self-righteous humans and blather about representing justice to exterminate evil. However, Xu Jun saying those words won’t be as laughable as certain priests saying it, as at least he was truly righteous. He might also faint right away from fright, as he had the gall before to say so many disrespectful things before the Demon King. However, Rozenke didn’t mind these things.

He had thought that Xu Jun would mostly suffer psychological damage, as he had deceived Xu Jun for such a long time and what humans feared most was deception and betrayal.

Xu Jun would also be saddened, and although this wasn’t a scene that Rozenke wanted to see, it was a threshold.

His Majesty the Demon King had pondered and thought so much that he had barely spoken in the past two days and had become quite the intellectual. He had thought that he understood Xu Jun quite well, but never could he have imagined that Xu Jun had the ability to still completely ruin the mood in such a solemn and sorrowful time!

“Many thanks for burying my body and allowing me to resurrect,” Rozenke spat out with clenched teeth. “After this you will enter a deep sleep. Don’t forget to drink a bottle of that Divine Spirit Elixir. The next time you awaken, write down my full name on the finest piece of parchment! Copy it a hundred times!”

Xu Jun seemed like he wanted to say something, but Rozenke no longer wanted to listen. He feared that if he listened to Xu Jun anymore, he would be unable to resist the urge to pull down this Brave’s pants and give him a beating. That would be a bit too intense of a farewell.

. . . Matters regarding the Brave’s butt should be left for later.

Xu Jun had his eyes wide open, but not even a second later did they shut from drowsiness. He then truly entered into a dream.

After thinking for a bit, Demon King Rozenke placed Brave Xu Jun’s body flat on the ground, according to his liking, with Xu Jun’s arms crossed over his chest. He thought that this kind of sleeping posture was dignified and graceful, and was so much better than the limbs-sprawled-everywhere posture that Xu Jun was used to.

–If Xu Jun had still been awake, he probably would have thought that the Demon King was preparing to bury him. This was the standard motionlessly lying down posture found in fairy tales. _(:зゝ∠)_

. . . . . .

The Demon King’s soul transformed into a wisp of light smoke and, carrying along the dark element, returned to his own body, which the Ice Lord had been watching over this entire time.

This beautiful body came to life. As soon as it opened its eyes, it became that 1.9 meter tall, with an aura 2.8 meters tall, gong Demon King. This gong Demon King lowered his and saw that he was currently wearing his black rose, fine silk underclothes and his mood became complicated.

It seemed that he was already missing Xu Jun, despite having just left him.

At this moment, the Holy Light Elves’ Queen Ellie and elders were also breaking down.

As soon as Xu Jun’s hand had touched the Tree of Life, the dark element immediately disappeared, seemingly as if it had been swept away by a tornado! Heavens! Was this the power of the Divine Spirit Elixir? But immediately afterwards, Xu Jun fainted! W-w-w-why was this?!

“Quick quick quick! Mass Healing! Healing of the Light! Protection of the Divine Light!” Queen Ellie clapped her hands in a panic and cast tens of high-level healing spells onto Xu Jun, but Xu Jun remained unconcious.
